GetResponse Review: The Details
Now to the part you’ve been waiting for. Let’s dive into the core features of GetResponse and see if they’re the right fit for you.
GetResponse Email Marketing
Creating your first email is a breeze with GetResponse. The user experience is well thought out. I managed to set up my first email in just 10 minutes, and it felt incredibly intuitive.
Designing Your First Email
After creating a free account, you can immediately start designing your email. Click on ‘Design message,’ and you’ll be greeted by over 120 email templates. Impressive!
GetResponse offers seven categories of email templates, such as ‘educate,’ ‘promote,’ and ‘welcome.’ If you like a particular template, simply press “save,” and it will appear in the ‘My templates’ tab for future use.
Once you choose a template, you can start customizing your email in the email builder.
Email Editor
The GetResponse email editor is feature-rich yet not overwhelming. All editing options are accessible when needed, making it very user-friendly.
For those who prefer HTML coding, you can start with an HTML design or code from scratch, although this isn’t necessary. It’s nice to know that custom HTML blocks are available within the drag-and-drop template builder.
Drag & Drop Email Editor Options
In the layout section, you can decide the structure and appearance of your email. Set up the number of columns, basic colors, etc. The main editing is done with drag-and-drop content blocks. You can add:
- Images, text, and buttons
- Videos (YouTube-style)
- Whitespace and margins
- Social sharing links
- Custom HTML
One of my favorite features of the email editor is the ability to save blocks and sections. I often reuse the same elements for headers, footers, and some text/image combinations. This saves a lot of time when creating new emails.
Adding videos and images is straightforward. You can either drag and drop your images or choose from GetResponse’s free stock image collection.
For videos, simply enter the YouTube link, and it will be embedded in the email.
It gets even better. Under the eCommerce tab, you can add products from your online store directly into your email. By linking with your eCommerce platform, like Shopify, the products are right there. You can even add a ‘recommended products’ section for an extra touch.
Setting Up Your Email for Success
On a single page, you can create the entire email. Add subject lines, sender email address, and choose the appropriate email list to send it to.
A great feature of GetResponse email tracking is its ability to track eCommerce interactions.
You can see what your readers do after clicking on your email links. Click tracking works with a GetResponse tracking snippet and also integrates with Google Analytics.
With eCommerce tracking, you can identify which campaigns drive revenue and sales, allowing you to justify your marketing costs effectively.Try GetResponse for free here.
GetResponse Review: Email Automation
GetResponse Email Automation
GetResponse autoresponders are the building blocks of automation. You create the email just like a normal newsletter design, but then trigger it to be sent as an autoresponder.
Scheduling and Control
The scheduling feature gives you control over email delivery. You can choose to send the email at the moment of signup, after a few hours, or at a specific time and date. You can also untick the days of the week when you don’t want the autoresponder to be sent, such as on weekends.
One of the standout features is the ‘time travel’ toggle. By turning this option on, you can ensure the email is delivered at the recipient’s local time.
Marketing Automation Tools
GetResponse excels in marketing automation, making it one of the best SMB email marketing platforms due to its automation workflows.
Automation Features
I was particularly impressed with GetResponse’s marketing automation when I opened the automation menu and saw the navigation bar filled with options.
Each submenu contains automation templates to help you get started. For this review, I created a ‘welcome’ automation for new customers.
Creating a Customer Welcome Automation
To create a welcome automation for new customers, I started with a pre-made automation template. After a few clicks, I had this:
GetResponse makes the process simple, doing half the work for you. It’s easy to customize everything to suit your needs.
The automation editor includes conditions and actions. For instance, when a customer makes a purchase (condition), you trigger an email (action). My first action is sending a welcome email. You can add as many emails and conditions as you like.
For this email campaign, I created a flow where my new customers receive two emails over two days. Additionally, I set up the campaign to separate customers who clicked on my email. Once the campaign starts, GetResponse tracks everything automatically.
My score for GetResponse automations is 8.5/10. It takes a bit of time to familiarize yourself with all the possibilities, but once you do, you have the power to build complete customer journeys, create your own automations, build customer profiles, and personalize emails.
Automation Workflows
With GetResponse, you can create automation workflows for:
- Lead qualification
- Engagement and retention
- Post-purchase notifications
- Abandoned cart triggers
- Webinars and online courses
- Sales promotions
- Affiliate marketing
These are just a few examples. With the pre-built automation templates and a bit of tweaking, you can build your own automations with precision.Start GetResponse for free here.
GetResponse Review: Funnel Builder
Funnel Builder
Now onto the funnel builder. A funnel represents all the steps in a marketing campaign, including forms, emails, SMS, landing pages, etc.
GetResponse’s conversion funnel builder starts by asking if you want to:
- Build your email list (or leads)
- Sell products
- Promote a webinar
Begin with a new lead magnet or use one of the 17 templates GetResponse offers. Once you’ve picked your lead magnet, you can build out your funnel. The whole funnel building process is guided, with suggestions at each step to ensure you don’t miss anything. For instance, GetResponse reminds you to include a thank-you page and directly offers a template for it. Smart!
Creating a Conversion Funnel
As your first step, you’ll create a signup landing page. Choose a template, tweak your copy and design, and publish the page.
Next, you’ll create the thank-you page, followed by a promotion email to start promoting your newly created funnel.
You can promote your funnel through Facebook ads by linking your Facebook account to GetResponse. It works seamlessly.
Adding more emails, forms, and pages can maximize your funnel’s conversion potential.
Finally, you get all your vital stats to monitor your campaign’s progress. Track signup rates, the number of contacts, page views, and the success rate from the conversion dashboard. (They’re making it too easy!)
With the Email Marketing plan, you can create lead and lead magnet funnels. For more advanced features, such as abandoned cart recovery, you’ll need to opt for higher plans.
I love that I can design an entire funnel in one dashboard and track vital stats. It makes the GetResponse funnel builder feel effortless.
Website Builder
GetResponse‘s website builder is their newest addition to the platform.
You can build a website from templates or use their ‘AI-powered builder.’ With the AI-powered builder, you answer a few questions, and GetResponse will automatically generate a personalized website.
Website Building Options
Other website building options include:
- Widgets (forms, chat boxes, price tables, etc.)
- Website colors and themes
- Adding logos and images
After experimenting with the builder for just 5 minutes, I was able to create a decent homepage with minimal effort.
The builder lets you edit everything on the page, including fonts, text sizes, images, element positioning, padding, and more.
There’s a separate menu for adding and editing pages on the website. You can tweak navigation bars, headers, and footers. The drag-and-drop editor shows further customization options when you select a section.
The menus are similar to the email and landing page editor, making it familiar and easy to use.
Webinars
Webinars are increasingly popular, and GetResponse is one of the few email marketing platforms that include webinar functionality.
Setting up a webinar is straightforward.
Webinar Setup
After selecting your title, you add the time, date, and duration of the webinar. Then you choose which contact list to add your registrants to. You can set up autoresponders for registrants to receive right after they sign up.
Once everything is set, GetResponse will create a webinar link to drive people to sign up for your webinars.
Now you can send invites to your contact list, manage other webinars, and keep track of webinar performance.
I found the webinar tool to be of good quality. It includes interactive features to keep the audience engaged, such as chat, polls, Q&A, and a whiteboard.
If you want to showcase a feature or product, you can live-share your screen. If you’re looking to sell a product, you can add a call to action directly within the webinar.
People who are already using separate platforms for email marketing and webinars will love that GetResponse integrates both functionalities.
You have access to the chat pod and the global settings for your event. The event is hosted inside the GetResponse app, and there’s also a mobile app for giving webinars on the go.Try GetResponse for free here.
Landing Page Builder
The GetResponse landing page builder is included for free in all plans. It currently offers 198 templates. Although, to be honest, I’d stick to the newest 100 templates, as some of the older ones look quite dated.
After choosing a landing page template, you can start editing. The editing experience is different from the email creator.
The single-column menu on the right contains all the drag-and-drop elements, such as text, images, videos, buttons, etc.
Initially, I thought I wanted the icons to be labeled. However, after a bit of practice, you quickly learn what each icon represents and can grab the right elements with ease.
A/B Testing
A feature I like about the landing page builder is that you can create A/B variants of your landing page from the start. The top left corner of the page lets you create as many variants as you want, along with forms and thank-you pages.
After you’re satisfied with your page design, you can add SEO, URL, and email list settings.
Analytics and Tracking
What comes next is probably my favorite part. Similar to your emails, you can set up analytics and web event tracking for your landing pages. You can choose your analytics platform to track landing pages. GetResponse integrates with all major platforms, such as Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, and Kissmetrics.
The landing page builder gets the job done. While some specialized landing page software might offer more advanced features, GetResponse’s builder is still robust. If GetResponse updates its builder and adds more templates, it will be on par with other tools.
I prefer GetResponse because you can link your landing pages to other campaigns, such as webinars, funnels, and automations.
Other Features
Other notable GetResponse features include:
- SMS marketing
- Web push notifications
- Paid ads
- Live chat
Overall, GetResponse is a powerful platform that goes beyond email marketing. It allows you to set up complete funnels to convert visitors into customers. However, to fully review an email marketing platform, you must also consider customer support and pricing plans.Try GetResponse for free here.

In this article, we’ll explore the major benefits of email marketing and how GetResponse helps you unlock its full potential.
1. Cost-Effective Marketing with High ROI
One of the greatest benefits of email marketing is its affordability. Compared to other channels like social media ads or Google Ads, email marketing requires less financial investment but often yields higher returns. According to industry statistics, email marketing can offer a return on investment (ROI) of up to 4,200%, making it one of the most cost-effective ways to reach your audience.
With GetResponse, businesses gain access to all the necessary tools for creating, managing, and optimizing email campaigns without breaking the bank. The platform offers various pricing plans, including a free plan that’s great for small businesses or startups just getting started. Additionally, GetResponse’s built-in automation features reduce the need for a large marketing team, making it easier for smaller businesses to compete with larger brands.
2. Advanced Automation Capabilities for Personalized Campaigns
Automation is one of GetResponse’s standout features, providing businesses with powerful tools to create personalized, timely, and relevant email campaigns. With advanced automation workflows, you can set up sequences triggered by specific actions, such as a subscriber joining your list, clicking on a link, or making a purchase. These workflows ensure that each subscriber receives a tailored experience based on their behaviors and preferences.
For example, if a customer abandons their cart, GetResponse’s abandoned cart automation can automatically send follow-up emails to encourage them to complete their purchase. By reaching out at the right moment, you can recover potentially lost sales and improve overall conversion rates. Additionally, with GetResponse’s behavioral segmentation feature, you can group subscribers based on their interactions with your emails or website, allowing you to create even more targeted campaigns that speak directly to each segment’s needs.
3. Boosting Engagement with Ready-to-Use Templates
Creating visually appealing emails that reflect your brand’s identity can be challenging, especially if you’re not a designer. GetResponse solves this problem by providing a wide range of professionally designed templates that you can easily customize to match your brand’s look and feel. These templates cater to various types of emails-newsletters, promotional emails, product announcements, and more-allowing you to find the perfect design for any campaign.
Using templates not only saves time but also ensures that your emails look professional and are optimized for different devices. With GetResponse’s drag-and-drop editor, you can add elements like images, text, and buttons effortlessly, giving you complete creative control without needing any coding skills. Well-designed emails can significantly boost engagement, making it more likely that your subscribers will open, read, and act on your messages.
4. Enhanced Lead Generation with Landing Pages and Forms
GetResponse goes beyond email marketing by offering integrated tools for lead generation, such as customizable landing pages and sign-up forms. Landing pages are essential for capturing leads and directing traffic from social media, ads, and other sources. With GetResponse’s landing page builder, you can create attractive, high-converting pages without needing to hire a designer or web developer.
These landing pages can be seamlessly integrated with your email marketing campaigns, allowing you to capture new leads and add them directly to your mailing lists. Additionally, GetResponse provides pop-ups, embedded forms, and scroll forms that you can add to your website to capture visitor information, helping you grow your email list effortlessly. By combining email marketing with lead generation tools, GetResponse provides a complete solution for attracting and nurturing new subscribers.
5. Detailed Analytics for Data-Driven Decisions
Understanding how your emails are performing is crucial for optimizing your marketing strategy. GetResponse offers comprehensive analytics and reporting tools that allow you to track essential metrics such as open rates, click-through rates, bounce rates, and conversions. With these insights, you can determine which emails resonate with your audience and which ones need improvement.
GetResponse also provides A/B testing capabilities, enabling you to experiment with different subject lines, email content, and layouts to see which versions perform best. These tests can give you a deeper understanding of your subscribers’ preferences, allowing you to make data-driven decisions that improve your campaign’s effectiveness over time. In addition to individual email metrics, GetResponse’s reporting dashboard lets you track trends and patterns, helping you to refine your strategy and achieve better results.
6. Seamless Integration with Other Marketing Channels
In today’s digital landscape, businesses need a cohesive approach that combines multiple marketing channels. GetResponse makes this possible by offering seamless integrations with popular platforms like Facebook, Google Ads, Shopify, and WordPress. This allows you to connect your email marketing efforts with other areas of your business, such as social media, e-commerce, and content marketing.
For instance, with GetResponse’s Facebook Ads integration, you can create and run Facebook ads directly from your GetResponse account. This helps you expand your reach and grow your email list by targeting potential customers on social media. Similarly, if you have an e-commerce store on Shopify, GetResponse’s integration enables you to synchronize your store data with your email campaigns, making it easier to promote products, send personalized offers, and track customer behavior.
7. Building Trust with Transactional Emails
Transactional emails-such as order confirmations, shipping updates, and account notifications-are essential for building trust with your customers. GetResponse includes transactional email capabilities, allowing you to send timely and relevant messages to customers based on their interactions with your business. These emails are not only functional but also an opportunity to build brand loyalty and keep your audience engaged.
For e-commerce businesses, transactional emails offer a chance to reinforce brand messaging, cross-sell products, or encourage future purchases. For example, an order confirmation email can include related product recommendations or a discount for the customer’s next purchase. With GetResponse, you can ensure that your transactional emails are visually appealing, consistent with your brand, and optimized for high deliverability, making it easy to maintain a professional relationship with your customers.
8. Mobile Optimization for a Broader Reach
With a large portion of users accessing their emails on mobile devices, it’s essential to ensure that your emails look great on both desktop and mobile. GetResponse’s templates are fully mobile-responsive, which means they automatically adjust to fit various screen sizes. This ensures that your emails are easy to read and interact with, no matter which device your subscribers are using.
Additionally, GetResponse offers a mobile preview tool within its editor, allowing you to see exactly how your email will appear on mobile before you hit send. By ensuring that your emails are optimized for mobile devices, you’re more likely to reach a wider audience and improve engagement among mobile users.

As your business grows, so do your email marketing needs. GetResponse offers scalable plans and features that can grow with you, making it suitable for businesses of all sizes. From small startups to large enterprises, GetResponse provides the flexibility to handle increasing subscriber numbers, additional automation workflows, and more complex segmentation.
